Breakfast with Jesus
“What if you could invite Jesus to breakfast?”
That’s what my five year old, Michael, remembers from today’s sermon. He has rolled it around and around in that cute little head of his and at lunch announced that he was going to invite Jesus to breakfast at our house next Sunday.
So sweet. I smiled at him. He did not smile back--he was focused. This was serious business. Michael cleared a place at the table and pulled out his drawing pad and Crayolas and went to work. This was: Very. Serious. Business.
About 45 minutes and five pieces of paper later Michael proudly produced an invitation worthy of a king. Color
Here's a fun question Atheists like to throw around:
"Can God make a stone so large that He cannot pick it up?"
Or this one:
"Can God make a triangle with four sides?"
Of course there is no rational answer to these questions
And the Atheist thinks he has you cornered!
After all, if an all-powerful God cannot do these things,
then He cannot be all-powerful!
So the God we think we know cannot exist.
God is said to be Omnipotent
meaning all-powerful.
Right?
Not exactly so.
No where in the Bible does it say this.
The Bible calls God "Almighty"
which we have turned into meaning all-powerful.
But we know there are many things God c
Chapter Six: Out of the Cave
A few days passed and the numbers of daily visitors dwindled. Then baby’s father would leave during the day and return each night with food for the young woman. While the father was gone women who were camping nearby would visit and sit with the young mother, their joyful chatter filling the cave. To his relief, no one paid any attention to the little dog, except each evening when the young mother would leave a few scraps of food for him.
Then a day came that the father bundled up the family's meager belongings and he, the young mother, and infant left the small cave. The dog felt alarmed. He could n

A Dog With No Name
In the deepest corners of the cave, shadows come to life, taking the form of two demons, invisible to human or animal. The demons drifted about, inspecting the living creatures below, especially the newborn infant. As the demons approached a soft protective glow, unseen by the living, grew surrounding the child. The glow was repugnant to the demons, expelling them back to the dark recesses of the cave. After the initial shock of the experience wore off, the older demon began to smile crookedly, exposing but a single tooth which dangled from his upper gums.
"Ahhhhhh, Master will be so pleased” the older demon c

The Soldier's Dog: Good Friday: Part II
The master demon kept his back to the lower demon, Slugblood, as he delivered his report on the progress in extinguishing the Son of Man.
“I bring good news, Master.” said Slugblood, in a deep bow, laying face down into the dusty cold stone slab. He eagerly awaited his Master’s acknowledgement.
The master turned. “I’ll be the judge of that. Continue.”
Not being given any command to stand, the demon continued to lay prostrate before the master as he continued, “As you know, my fellow demon, Scabpipe, has been treating the high priest, Caiaphus, as you ordered. He made suggestions to this priest

The Soldier's Dog: Good Friday: Part I
At the moment of his arrest, the man’s companions from the garden fled. The arrested man was now alone, in the hands of the soldiers. The Jewish leaders pointed back to town. The soldiers continued in formation, lest there be an ambush of the man’s numerous followers. The dog’s nose constantly screened the air for the smells of rebels gathering. His ears strained for their approach. But no one came. No one tried to free this man. The man who was worshipped only days before, surrounded by hundreds of adoring Jews, was now surrounded by hundreds of sneering soldiers.

The silver light of the full moon lit the darkest shadows of the garden. The soldiers, along with Jewish leaders and servants, did not speak as they approached. The dog trotted along his master, ears perked for the sounds of clashing swords and armor, nose poised to smell blood spilling to the ground, but he did not hear or smell the sounds of war he anticipated. The commanding officer silently signaled the troops to stop. The master signaled his dog to sit.
The dog obediently sat, but just barely, as he was tense with anticipation. He watched a lone man walk ahead of the soldiers deeper into the garden. The man approached four othe

The cold air swirled in the dark recesses of the abandoned temple to Baal. A dark form bowed before a cob-webbed alter of stone. It shifted its position and turned to receive a young demon that approached to give report to his master. The young demon bowed, placing his forehead on the ground at the feet of his master.
“Rise” commanded the master in a cold unfeeling voice. “What say you, Slugblood?”
Slugblood stood as straight as possible and gave his report: “Master, my colleagues and I have isolated a weak minded man who lives am

Shouting could be heard across the market place. The soldier dropped the woven cloth he had been bartering for with a local merchant. Grabbing the dog’s leash, the two ran towards the sounds of shouts, which were growing louder and angrier with each passing moment.
A crowd was forming outside the Court of the Gentiles, which was the outer court of the temple built for the Jewish God. The dog and his master roughly pushed through the crowd. As they passed through the massive columns which bordered the courtyard the dog recognized the man involved in the altercation. It was the one who rode the donkey into the city just the day befo

If only young men/women reconcile with God
In the beginning, when God created Adam and Eve, they were ignorant of their self. Their identity was God. Though they were made of flesh and blood, the state of their being was pure.Though they were naked, they were perfectly comfortable with their nakedness, as yet lust was unknown to them.
But when they ate of the forbidden fruit ( fruit of the knowledge of good and evil ) the state of their body entirely transformed. They became aware of their self ; they became vulnerable to evil; mortality entered their body. They became ashamed of their nakedness and lust became known to them.
Man broke with God through his disobedience. And

Aaaahhhhggggg!!! This is beyond writer’s block! I am swirling with ideas and don’t know where to start! IF you have read the short pieces of my poorly developed stories, you know I am working on a theme of retelling Bible stories through the eyes of various dogs. My philosophy was to keep the dogs realistic, so the stories are in 3rd person.
In each of my stories the protagonists are dogs and the antagonists are demons fashioned after C.S. Lewis’ “The Screwtape Letters”. So here is question #1: Should the dogs “talk” to the demons? Should they interact intelligently? Currently my dogs sens
